OpenConstruction Documentation

• Submit resources that are relevant to construction, AEC research, education, practice, or open-science infrastructure.
• Provide a stable source link such as a repository, DOI, project page, publication, or access page.
• Use the standardized metadata schemas so resources remain discoverable and interoperable.
• Include descriptive titles, summaries, tasks, modalities, formats, and other structured metadata where applicable.
• Preserve attribution to original authors, institutions, and sources, and document the license or access terms.
• Document privacy, consent, site sensitivity, and access restrictions for data-related contributions.
• Resources may be deferred when links are unstable, ownership or reuse terms are unclear, the record duplicates existing catalog content, or sensitivity concerns need review.
• Platform contributions can improve schemas, validation scripts, benchmarks, documentation, and interface quality.

Templates and validation scripts are available in the GitHub repository, and unclear cases can be sent through the support channels before submission.

Scope

The platform indexes publicly accessible research metadata and links to original sources. It does not host or redistribute third-party datasets, models, code, or paywalled publications unless explicitly noted.

Project-owned code, metadata schemas, and documentation are released under the Apache 2.0 License unless otherwise stated.

Permitted Uses

• Access and use the platform for research, educational, and other lawful purposes.
• Build upon or adapt project-owned code under the terms of the Apache 2.0 License.
• Cite OpenConstruction Open Science Initiative in academic publications and derivative works.

Not Allowed

• Removing or obscuring any attribution, copyright, or license notice.
• Misrepresenting authorship, ownership, affiliation, or endorsement.
• Violating the license or access terms of third-party resources linked through the platform.
• Republishing this platform, or a substantially similar version of it, as a separate public service without prior written consent.
• Using the "OpenConstruction Open Science Initiative" name, logo, or associated marks in a way that implies unauthorized affiliation or endorsement.

Catalog Metadata

OpenConstruction indexes public metadata about datasets, models, workflows, benchmarks, tools, and educational resources. The catalog points users to original sources; rights to linked datasets, models, images, publications, and other third-party materials remain with their original creators, publishers, or providers.

Information We Receive

We may receive information you choose to provide through email, GitHub issues, update subscriptions, resource submissions, support reports, and optional account features such as saved resources, contribution activity, and workspace search history.

Accounts and Workspace Data

Sign-in is handled by third-party OAuth providers such as GitHub and Google. OpenConstruction does not manage passwords. User-owned profile, saved-resource, submission, support report, role, credential, and AI search records are stored in Supabase and protected with row-level access controls.

AI-Assisted Search

Ask OpenConstruction uses Google Gemini to enhance catalog search and summarize matching public resource records. Questions submitted to Ask OpenConstruction and selected catalog context may be processed by Google Gemini for this purpose. Users should not submit private, confidential, or sensitive information to AI-assisted search.

Signed-in users may optionally rate Ask OpenConstruction results or leave a short comment; this feedback is stored with the related query, answer, and returned result summaries to improve search quality.

Use, Choices, and Services

We use information only to operate the platform, respond to requests, coordinate community contributions, maintain personal workspace features, improve catalog quality, and send updates users explicitly request. OpenConstruction Open Science Initiative does not sell personal information.

Signed-in users can download their account data or request account deletion from the workspace account page. Privacy, access, correction, or deletion requests can also be sent to support@openconstruction.org. Third-party services such as GitHub, Google, Supabase, DOI providers, CDNs, mailing-list tools, and linked resource providers operate under their own policies and terms.

Linked Resource Responsibility

Users are responsible for reviewing and following the license, access, and reuse terms selected by each original provider before downloading, reproducing, adapting, or redistributing linked content.
